Description
An old railroad bridge located in Westford Massachusetts in conservation land now. The RR has been turned into a trail. The bridge was built in 1876 with no mortar.
From the Waymaking website:
"The Nashua, Acton & Boston Railroad was begun in 1871 to connect the Concord Railroad with the Framingham & Lowell Railroad.
This bridge was built in Westford by the railroad in 1872, and was constructed entirely of huge granite blocks, without mortar. Trains were running by 1873.
The railroad was never profitable, and the line was abandoned in 1926. The tracks and ties have been removed, and the railbed is now a nature trail maintained by the Westford Conservation Trust."

Wow! What a magnificent image, Frank! I don't know how I've missed it... no wonder it has sold so well! f/l
Frank Winters replied:
Thanks Ann. This image was shot with a Canon G9 when the lighting was near prefect. I've sold enlargements as big as 24" by 35" -- its a personal favorite.

A great favorite as it shows many layers. Makes one want to cross through or should I say under the bridge, to explore what's on the other side. Very nice processing. v.

Many thanks Madeline. I was lucky to have such good light on this New England icon. I'm pleased that this is one of your faves!
